Notes from Home: A San Francisco Bay Area Benefit Concert for LEAP – June 23

Attention San Francisco Bay Area Friends of LEAP: 

Join the Aswat Ensemble and the World Harmony Chorus on June 23rd for a night of music, community, and fun benefitting the LEAP Program!

In honor of refugee awareness month, the “Notes from Home” benefit concert will raise funds for LEAP’s Project MUSIC while raising awareness of the plight of of refugees all over the world.  

The all volunteer concert will feature over 50 musicians performing music from around the world, primarily focusing on themes related to home, childhood, and love.

The concert will take place at the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (1433 Madison Street, Oakland, CA 94612) at  7:00 p.m

ASWAT is the Bay Area’s Premier Arab Music Ensemble reaching out to the diverse Bay Area community with folkloric, classical, and contemporary Arabic music. Committed to pluralism and inclusion, Aswat is a multi-ethnic and multi-racial music ensemble whose doors are open to all who wish to participate.

WORLD HARMONY CHORUS is a community chorus in the Bay Area that performs material from all over the globe and welcomes participants of all ages and ability levels. There are no auditions nor entrance requirements.

LEAP is a grassroots volunteer program established to provide educational empowerment projects to support the intellectual growth and creative curiosity of refugee-youth in Lebanon so they may become agents of change. As an apolitical humanitarian US-based organization, LEAP aims to raise awareness about the plight of Palestinian refugees in general, but particularly in Lebanon, to American volunteers.
