LEAP seeks dynamic, proactive, compassionate, and motivated volunteers who enjoy working with young adults; value the right to quality education for all children and the international rights of Palestinian refugees; maintain respect and diplomacy in their interactions with people of different cultures; and are capable of working under challenging circumstances. LEAP is an intense experience; however, it is rewarding and worthwhile. We kindly ask that you evaluate whether a program like this is right for you. If so, we encourage you to apply!

LEAP aims to nurture the intellectual growth and creative curiosity of Palestinian refugee youth in Lebanon by providing educational enrichment projects. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower students to become agents of change.

The Program facilitates a cultural exchange between volunteers and students both inside and outside the classroom. The LEAP Program aims to be a mutual learning and sharing experience for both students and volunteers. Volunteers are expected to raise awareness about their experience both living and working in the refugee camps upon returning to their home communities.

camVolunteers must be prepared to work in small classrooms with sporadic or scarce electricity, extreme heat, and limited resources. Volunteers must also be able to endure living in difficult conditions such as cramped apartments; extreme heat and discomfort; sporadic or scarce electricity; water cuts; roaches in the living space and rodents in the camps. Most importantly, LEAP volunteers must be culturally and religiously sensitive to Islamic practices and livelihood. Volunteers must carry themselves in a mature, appropriate, and respectful manner at all times during the Program, maintain a clear sense of purpose throughout the Program, understand that they are a representation of LEAP and adhere to the code of conduct at all times, and maintain a flexible and position attitude to ensure a harmonious environment for students, volunteers, and our community partners alike.

We strongly encourage interested applicants to apply. This is a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the plight of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and in general. The Program has consistently been described as a meaningful, unforgettable experience and we hope that you can join our team!
